“Deep in Siberian Mines…” Yaga in Tyumen.

From 3rd  till 9th of March, in Tyumen, there was held a trade show of decorative applied arts «ART SHOW. FOLK ARTS».

YAGA took part in this project, since it was a good reason to visit Baba Yaga’s native land.

;    Tyumen met spring and the train from Moscow with sunshine and strong frost. With high spirits we installed our stand. It was placed in the center of the exhibition hall, in front of the exposition of splendid Siberian carpets. During the exhibition it was interesting to watch local people. Tyumen’s women turned out to be laconic, restrained, not inclined to make fast decisions. Very often they came back with advisers: their daughters or husbands. And their praises and delights became for us even higher than the appraisals of Moscow fashionable women. We were pleased that many visitors of the exhibition invited us to come to their city again.
Thanks a lot to the organizers of the trade show. They did their best to create more comfort for the participants.
Unfortunately, we could not get acquainted with the city more closer because of a very tight schedule. Nevertheless, at the last day we managed to go to the center of the Old Tyumen and visited Tyumen Museum of Fine Arts.

We were lucky to see the exhibition of rural icons dated to 18th -19th century. They are different from icons of the traditional Russian icon-painting school by colors, composition, and brushwork. We were surprised at the Central Tyumen’s streets with the accurate restored buildings of the 19th century. We felt that Tyumen citizens take care of their city and are proud of it.
